Larger NGOs will view you as a natural partner if you have the same origins, interests, values, intended beneficiaries, constituencies and objectives. Progressive NGOs seek progressive partners, sectorally specialised NGOs seek similar bodies, and so it goes on.

The underlying assumption is that such natural partners will ‘speak the same language’, so making work¬† more productive and efficient.

You will need to ensure that you stick to your values and that your approach is not overwhelmed by the larger and more powerful partner.
